It's true
If you live to a hundred and twenty, you will never ever encounter a comic book character worse than The Highwayman.
He was a biker with a monacle. A monacle that fired stun blasts.
He was the worst. The very worst.

Oh dear Lord, that may be the coolest character EVER. I mean, what the hell else has Len Wein ever created that is as cool? Huh?
Cool? No, no, no, no, no.
I may be forced to dig out my scanner just to reveal the sheer insult to the intelligence that was late Captain Britain.
Though I'm not sure the internet is ready for the Manipulator and Highwayman. Especially the mortifying scene where they mind-blast the Queen...
I think you mean "best," sir.
I'm just having some fun with you. I put a link to this over at Comics Should Be Good, because the Highwayman is just so totally awesome.
It was 1970s comics! Of course he's going to be ridiculous!
I can sense a cult starting here...
But no. I know he looks a bit cool on that cover, but he wasn't. He was rubbish.
Although I think we may be able to partially exonerate Len Wein. I always thought Bob Budiansky was to blame, but according to this Budiansky, Larry Lieber and Wein may have all had a hand in his creation.
Sadly my copy of Captain Britain #37 has walked off (perhaps in shame), so I can't check.
Early Captain Britain may be worth a post or two, I think.
